How to Choose a PET Bottle Manufacturer in Tamil Nadu: A Buyer's Checklist

If you're sourcing PET bottles for the first time — or switching suppliers — most of the cost of a bad decision shows up after the first order lands, not before. Here's what to actually check before you commit.

1. Resin grade: ask specifically, don't assume

Not every "PET bottle" on the market is made from the same input material. Some suppliers blend in recycled PET (rPET) flake to cut cost, which is fine for some non-food applications but not something you want to discover after the fact if you're packaging edible oil, ghee, or drinking water. Ask your supplier directly: is this 100% certified virgin PET, or a blend? At PurePET Solutions we use certified virgin PET exclusively across our range — no recycled content — specifically because our largest buyer categories are edible oil, ghee, and beverage packaging where resin purity matters.

2. Neck finish compatibility — this is where orders go wrong

The single most common reason a bottle order fails at the buyer's end isn't bottle quality — it's a neck finish that doesn't match the cap the buyer already has tooled or sourced. Before you order, confirm the exact neck finish, not just the cap "type":

• •28mm PCO — the standard for beverages and water, matches most tamper-evident sports/flat caps
• •27mm Alaska neck — common on edible oil and cooking oil bottles
• •38mm neck — used on our 300ML juice bottle and similar wide-pour formats
• •CRC (child-resistant / tamper-evident) neck — relevant for agrochemical and liquid cleaner packaging

If you already have caps from another source, send the neck finish spec (or the cap itself) before placing a bottle order — it takes one message and avoids a bottle-cap mismatch on a full production run.

3. Minimum order quantity — by bag, not by "pieces"

Most PET bottle manufacturers, including us, quote and pack in bags rather than loose pieces, and the units-per-bag differ by bottle size. Ask for the exact units-per-bag figure for your specific bottle before you calculate your order quantity — "I need 5,000 bottles" and "I need 5,000 bottles that pack into whole bags" can be two different order sizes.

4. Delivery method and lead time

Ask upfront whether the supplier offers factory pickup, lorry delivery, or both, and what the realistic lead time is for your quantity — not the best-case number. A manufacturer who gives you a straight answer on this before you've even ordered is a good early signal.

5. Ask to see the factory, or ask for photos/video if you can't visit

A blow-moulding facility is not hard to verify. If a "manufacturer" can't show you the actual production floor, they may be a trader reselling someone else's output — not necessarily a dealbreaker, but you should know which one you're dealing with.
