PET Bottle Neck Finishes Explained: PCO, CRC, Alaska & Juice Bottle Necks
Neck finish is the one spec that determines whether your caps actually fit your bottles — and it's the detail most often skipped in a quick "I need bottles" conversation. Here's what the common codes actually mean, in plain language.
28mm PCO
PCO stands for "Plastic Closure Only" — it's the industry-standard beverage neck finish, most familiar from carbonated drinks and packaged water bottles. It's designed for a tight, tamper-evident plastic screw cap and is the neck finish to ask for if you're packaging water, soft drinks, or similar beverages at 28mm.
27mm Alaska neck
The Alaska neck finish is widely used on edible and cooking oil bottles in India. It's built to pair with the flip-top or screw caps common in oil packaging and is sized slightly differently from PCO — this is a common mismatch point if someone orders "28mm" out of habit when their existing oil caps are actually cut for a 27mm Alaska finish.
CRC (tamper-evident / child-resistant) neck
CRC necks are built to pair with caps that show clear evidence of tampering once opened, and in some cap designs add child-resistance. These are common in agrochemical and liquid cleaner packaging, where regulatory and safety expectations are higher than standard FMCG packaging.
38mm neck (juice bottle format)
A wider 38mm neck is typically used on juice and health-drink bottles where a wider pour opening matters — this is the finish on our 300ML juice bottle. It's a noticeably wider opening than PCO or Alaska necks and isn't a drop-in replacement for either.
Why this matters before you order
A bottle with the wrong neck finish is not a "close enough, force it on" problem — mismatched threads either won't seal properly or won't thread on at all, and you find this out after a production run, not before. If you already have caps from another supplier, share the neck finish (or the cap itself) with us before ordering bottles. We manufacture 28mm PCO, 27mm Alaska, CRC, and 38mm neck formats in-house using 100% certified virgin PET — happy to confirm compatibility with your existing caps before you place an order.
